After seeing Ariel's avatar and portfolio on Model Mayhem I just knew that I had to photograph her as she had what I considered to be a unique look with very pleasing facial features. She calls herself "the runt of the family" but her small frame did not impede her abilities to be in front of the camera. We had decided to shoot at the Middle Head fortifications as she had been there once before and also wanted a chance to try a variety of costumes and for us to gel the background different colours.
I used a variable number of off camera flashes, from one to four. Most were in umbrellas to produce softness to the lighting. Others had coloured gels and occasionally I used one in a gridded snoot for a rim light.
As usual I did some tight cropping to give headshots in landscape mode.
